RNID: For deaf and hard of hearing people.

Over 50 Environmental Health Officers from Northern Ireland's 26 Councils recently attended a conference hosted by the local Government Noise Task Team in partnership with RNID Northern Ireland, to learn about the new Noise at Work Regulations coming into force for the entertainment industry on 6 April.

Officers learned about:

  • the hearing damage which can be caused by overexposure to loud noise
  • methods of assessing noise levels, and
  • enforcing the regulations in local pubs and clubs.

A second event is planned for early April to inform the entertainment industry of their obligations to their employees under the strengthened regulations, and to encourage them to support RNID's Don't Lose the MusicĀ (external link) campaign.
