"Community Care Live" was held over two days in early November. The event was the first of its kind in Scotland and combined debates hosted by key speakers in social care, study day workshops and a comprehensive exhibition.

RNID Scotland was at the event in the main arena of Heriot Watt University Conference Centre. We promoted a wide range of our services, provided information and advice, demonstrated equipment and showed some advancements in technology such as video interpreting and synface.

Our synface project aims to develop a talking face controlled by the incoming telephone speech signal, which can be used by lipreaders. This works with any telephone and only requires equipment at the user's end, soit should be cheaper than video and text telephony solutions.
