A report on developments in measuring service performance in Scotland from the Scottish Audiology Newsletter, July 2004.
The definition of a modernised patient journey has been agreed following discussions among heads of service. This will be used to characterise the standard of service provision in the modernised Scottish audiology service.
A common format for recording service performance on a quarterly basis has also been agreed and issued to chief executives and heads of service. Common definitions for key items to be measured will be used across Scotland and programmed into electronic patient management systems. The Information and Statistics Division of the Scottish Executive Health Department will be involved in this process to try to avoid duplication of data retrieval and recording.
