The Co-operative Group has awarded RNID Cymru a Community Dividend award for £2,631 to buy equipment for the Hear to Help project in mid Wales.
The Hear to Help project trains volunteers to provide support to people in the local community who have age-related hearing loss. The volunteers provide practical help by :
The money donated by the Co-operative Group will pay for 12 volunteer kits and a portable hearing loop. The kits includes all the equipment volunteers need to show people how to care for and use their hearing aids.
Jackie Newey, Hear to Help project manager said, "This award will enable us to train new volunteer teams in Powys and Ceredigion in spring 2007. Over 120 hard of hearing people have already received one to one support from our volunteers so far, and this donation will help us to reach even more people."
