RNID: For deaf and hard of hearing people.

A recent survey of our members in Wales shows that you are concerned about:

  • audiology waiting times for appointments and upgrades
  • the availability and quality of communication services, including the training of frontline staff in GP surgeries and hospitals
  • support for families and young people who experience hearing loss early on in life.

Another area of concern is the planning and development of public venues and services. Many plans focus too much attention on mobility and not enough on providing equipment and support for deaf and hard of hearing people.

What we are asking for

We are calling on the National Assembly for Wales to provide an equal standard of access in the development and delivery of all public services. We want them to:

  • improve communication
  • increase audiology support
  • increase educational support
  • enhance deaf and hard of hearing people’s overall quality of life.

What you can do

  • Contact us and tell us about the experiences that you have had visiting GPs, dentists, local clinics, using public transport, receiving assistance and support for hearing aids, or simply trying to spend leisure time shopping or going to the cinema.
  • Attend an RNID Cymru hustings event to meet with prospective Assembly candidates and raise issues affecting deaf and hard of hearing people.
  • Download and read our election manifesto and use it to challenge the candidates in your local area.
