we'd be delighted to speak with deaf and hard of hearing people about their experiences of accessing everyday services and discuss any barriers they face
At our information event in Aberaeron you can find out about the services, equipment and products which can have an amazing impact on the life of a person who is deaf or hard of hearing.
RNID Cymru is holding an information day to inform Ceredigion residents about support and services for people who are deaf or hard of hearing, and gather their views about accessibility.
We have organised the event to take place in the Feathers Royal Hotel in Alban Square, Aberaeron between 2pm and 6.30pm on Monday 26 October 2009.
Between 2pm and 5pm, visitors can find out about products, equipment and services which are available, to improve the everyday lives of people who are deaf or hard of hearing.
We will then be holding an open forum between 5pm and 6.30pm to gather the views of deaf and hard of hearing people about accessing services and leisure activities, using public transport and finding employment and training opportunities. This discussion is being conducted as part of the charity's research into the everyday inclusion barriers facing people with a hearing loss, which is funded by the Welsh Assembly Government's New Ideas Fund.
Glenys Jones, RNID Cymru Information Officer, says: "Many people don't realise how important their hearing is until they start to lose it and it can be a very challenging time. At our information event in Aberaeron you can find out about the services, equipment and products which can have an amazing impact on a deaf or hard of hearing person's life."
"In the latter part of the event, we'd be delighted to speak with deaf and hard of hearing people about their experiences of accessing everyday services and discuss any barriers they face."
British Sign Language (BSL) interpreters will be available at the event. For more information contact Glenys Jones on telephone 029 2033 3034 (telephone), 029 2033 3036(textphone) or email glenys.jones@rnid.org.uk
