“Hearing is something most of us are guilty of taking for granted. RNID wants to raise awareness of what it’s like to live in a world without sound, what you can do to look after your hearing and how we can tackle prejudice and exclusion around deafness. So I am happy to be doing my bit to raise awareness.”

  • Chris Packham, television presenter and wildlife expert.

“There are so many great stirring sounds in the countryside and I’d especially miss the sounds of the wind, which creates a fantastic natural atmosphere when it’s whizzing through grass, howling through trees or whistling on mountain peaks. I’m lending my voice to RNID’s Hearing Matters campaign and urge people to take the charity’s check today so you can start addressing any hearing loss and continue hearing the rural sounds we all love.”

  • Danny McNamara, musician from the Band Embrace.

Danny is the lead singer from the band Embrace and has tinnitus. He supports our work in protecting hearing. "The first six months I had tinnitus were awful… I went to a specialist who told me the years of loud music had done irreparable damage to my ears, all I could do was see that it didn't get worse. If you haven't got tinnitus… take care of your ears before it's too late."

“Ears are fantastic instruments gathering an astounding range of information about the plants and animals that live around us, and how they change with the seasons. I love hearing all the conversations between wildlife, particularly betweens bats at night. I’m lending my voice to RNID’s Hearing Matters campaign and urge people to take the charity’s check today so you can start addressing any hearing loss and continue hearing all the sounds of our magnificent countryside.”

“My hearing is so important to me personally and professionally. I am aware of the barriers that exist for some deaf and hard of hearing people as my younger brother was born profoundly deaf. I’m really pleased to support RNID, and hope more people take care of their hearing and break down the barriers and prejudices that still exist today between hearing and deaf people.”

    Mr Motivator

"Everybody say 'Yeah!' and use plenty of positive mental attitude to sign-up for RNID’s London to Paris cycle challenge and change the world for people who are deaf or hard of hearing! I want people to get fit and get motivated for this once in a lifetime experience and raise vital funds for RNID’s work creating a world where deafness or hearing loss don’t limit opportunity, and where people value their hearing."

“Deafness is an underrated disability. People fear it less than other disabilities. But they don’t realise how debilitating it can be.”
