Hearing aids and audiology
Digital hearing aids are now available on the NHS, but waiting times to have one fitted are still too long. Many people have to wait for up to two years.
In July 2006, the Department of Health reported that:
- over 30,000 people in England were waiting more than a year for a first hearing test
- 500,000 people with a hearing aid are still waiting for a modern digital hearing aid on the NHS.
