Like TinDel, I broke a pair of headphones but then discovered that one of the two earphones could be fitted into a pillow case and it works quite well. I cut the other one off as the wire was coming loose and it still works - but onlt in mono for obvious reasons. Crude but effective.

I also sometimes use a pair of ear buds. I have bought about eight pairs over the years - some are more comfortable than others so if the ones you are using hurt, don't give up - try a different make.

Tried ear pads but they broke lying on them!! My son has just bought me a pillow with a speaker in from Roseberry's store in the South. I plug it in to a CD and play them while getting to sleep. Pan Pipe music is the favourite at present but try out till you find something suitable, maybe the Radio. The pillow muffles the sound so your partner should not hear it very much. I also set the CD/Radio player to switch off after an hour, Worth a try.
