I use inner-ear earphones to listen to music. This means I can have the volume much lower than I used to have, but is it worse for my hearing because the sound is more concentrated?

It should make no difference. The in-ear headphones may be quieter but are nearer to the eardrum. Your brain will tell you what is a loud or sensible volume. Listen to your brain and not a reading on the stereo volume control.
If your ears are "buzzing" after listening to the music the volume is too high!
Keep the tips clean and dont share them to avoid ear infections.

I use earhooks with my hearing aids saves having to remove aids and store them safely whilst plugging in earphones. The aids atre already tuned for my ears so the audiologist has limited the max input at aid level. I can increase volume on the mp3 player until it gets uncomfortable.
