Seek professional medical advice. That may be your doctor, ENT specialist, Tinnitus Society etc.
Try the numerous "remedies" and be positive. Try distraction methods like a radio on in the background. Tinnitus maskers or hearing aids may be effective. Diet can be a factor..do some research.
In summary; start with the professionals and dont be afraid to try alternative therapies like homeopathy, reflexology and acupuncture.
Dont look for a "cure" as you will get demoralised. Seek an improvement.

I have suffered from the effects of tinnitus for 12 years following a nervous breakdown. I have tried maskers but the sound was not helpful.Going to bed is the most distressing as the tinnitus is extremely loud when I am tired.I was discouraged by the hospital to use the masker in bed but that is when I need it most.
