You need to be registered and logged in to participate in answers.
Also, to get help with work as a disabled person ask to see the Disability Employment Adviser at your local Jobcentre Plus office - you do not have to be claiming benefits for this help.

I believed you no longer need to register until recently and you don't HAVE to, but it is better to do so as it gives your local council an idea of demand for deaf services etc. and can help to ensure funding is correct. Contact your local council and they should have a form for you to register as disabled - this will enable you to access local deaf services and provisions and also may entitle you to a disabled card which may have some benefits attached, such as cheaper admissions, bus fares etc.

Apparently you don't have to register as disabled any more. I have single sided deafness and I have asked the same question for the same reason. The good thing to know is that under DDA (Disability Discrimination Act) if you meet the minimum criteria for a job you should be guaranteed an interview at least, and once in work employers are reqquired to make reasonable adjustments to assist you. There are also Employment agencies set up specifically for helping disabled people back into work. Like Remploy.

go to your local jobcentre and ask for a claim form, although you don't want benefits, that's how you get registered. They will advise you on what documents are required (letters from specialists etc.,) . Hope this helps.
