I hope this site helps. I can't advise, as I am not a good candidate for this, and had bone anchored hearing aids instead. |

I had this done about 4 years ago and it was a real success. Personally I didn't feel much pain afterwards. I did suffer from a little loss of balance for a bit though..was only for about a week as everything settled back down. i could tell as soon as the packaging was taken out it had made a difference. for me though it was short term as i have osteoslerosis which has taken away those benifits. |

hi, i also had a stapedectomy a few years ago, unfortunately it wasn't the sucess I'd hoped but that was due more to the severity of my hearing loss than the operation. (I also have otosclerosis and a coclear loss as well) Dont worry too much about recovery process it's minimal - normally you can leave hospital the same day and then take it easy for a few days. I was pretty dizzy for a while but that doesnt happen to everyone. It's not painful just a bit uncomfortable. And the benefit of the operation is entirely dependent on the individual case. |
