Hi there, I work for a Primary care mental health team and work with individuals who are experiencing mental health problems such as anxiety and depression. i have a project coming up and it will focus on what is available for people whom are depressed/anxious and have hearing difficulties. I am posting on this forum as i would particularly like to hear the views/opinions (good or bad) of anybody who has had any experience/contact from mental health teams, and whether anybody has tried cognitive behavioural therapy.
many thanks for your time

Yes I had 20 sessions CBT in an out patients hospital in Glasgow, this was for depression and anxiety caused by tinnitus and hearing loss. The outcome was good. The patient (me) had to work hard at it and understand how CBT works. Would recommend it.

Yes I have had contact with mental health care teams, I was being managed by a crisis team when tinnitus first hit. The team were good in that they helped with medication; talking; monitoring me. However, no-one really knew about tinnitus; it would have been helpful to have had something earlier. I can give you more details should you wish? My email is ewanandkath @ hotmail.com

Hi,
I am kate and have accessed services due to stress. I have had worries with my hearing 4 years and my gp still thinks it relates to stress. I would be grateful to know of any good techniques that would help to overcome this. can stress really cause hearing loss, and pressure feelings? it would be very intresting to know.
