Hi ,,, I've had T for 7 months now as a result of noise related music. I'm now a Dad but baby's crying seems so loud especially when holding her on my shoulder. My T has increased in volume,,, It's VERY frustrating that I can;t hold my daughter without worrying about making the T worse! I have a pair of ER25 ear plugs but it's so awkward putting them in when holding baby,,,, any advice would be welcomed! Thanks! |

Phil, my wife has this hoover, its a nightmare from h-e-l-l machine the racket it makes just explodes around me, sure i could get a quieter one, when i use it i use industrial ear mufflers but she pops right out of the blue with the thing, then suddenly its deathly quiet again, its her smoko time. Ihappen to notice my 't' is approaching maximum volume, but i still carry on reading the newspaper. She's not being arkward, she just forgets about my little prob, i never discuss it with her. Obviously, continual exposure to such a sound could damage my hearing, i presume, but even that 'spike' won't budge me from where i am, and what i'm doing, it'll pass, just like baby's crying will. What gets up my nose is all that tobacco smoke, just don't let it 'rattle' you. |

I suppose that ear muffs are the only ear protection easier to put on that ear plugs. Can't think of anything else really. |

Can a coughing sound be enough to make T worse or cause it? Because my dad coughes like a bomb goes off in the next room and I feel it's very annoying for ears. Do I need to get earplugs? |

I strongly doubt that anyone coughing in the next room from you could possibly cough loud enough to cause hearing damage! |

hi phil, just an idea. raid your little girls nappy box and put a cotton wool ball in the pocket of your trousers and just before picking up your daughter pop them into your ears. i help to run a judo club and the kids excitement can sometimes be to much for my T so i pop in the cotton wool and it helps me a lot. its cheap and easy and by keeping it in your pocket, very accessable. it will not protect your hearing but i find it makes noisyish situations a bit more bearable |

Sorry, yes cotton wool is not reliable for reducing noise and bits can build up in your ear if used frequently. Have you tried 'ear caps'? Their advantage is that you can hang them around your neck and fit them quickly, possibly with one hand. |
