Hi this story is a little weird but here goes. 1 week ago i jumped into a pool. No problem, but the next morning i had vertigo. It went on for about 2 days , by the second day i was still a little unbalanced but better. i decied to do a home ear syringe procedure. the right ear wax came out but the left ear was stuuborn. Since then my leftear is ringing and i have lost high frequency pitch hearing above 4khz. i just did a candling today to try and see if it was stuborn wax deposit. This didnt do too much. The dotor said my ear drum wasnt ruptured, but looked bruised. The ringing is now in its fifth day and sometimes it goes away during the day but its around about 90 percent of the time. Does any one know how long it takes to heal a bruised ear drum ? The ring is one tone regular light ring.

Do take care with those lugs... They are the only ones you will have. Emoticon: Winking smile Best get straight to the GP first when there is a problem.

No idea how long it will take to settle, but I imagine as there seems to be a "cause" to your tinnitus, it will do that, settle, in time. Good luck. And be more respectful to your ears. Emoticon: Winking smile

Could be that you caused some kind of barometric trauma when you jumped into the pool. Such as where the pressure of water rushing against your eardrum is greater than the air pressure inside your ear.

Eardrums, unless they are really badly damaged and broken, are usually pretty good at self-healing. But I'm afraid that no-one can tell you how long the ringing may last for. Only time will tell. If you carry on having problems then you should go and see an ENT.

Meanwhile, please don't interfere with you own ears, you always risk making things far worse.

"Never put anything into your ear that's smaller than your elbow" is how the old proverb goes.

I know this sounds easier said than done but you must try your best to keep busy and don't focus on your ears. Avoid loud noise (clubs, vacuums, etc. ). I know from my own experiences, anxiety will only make the ringing seem louder to you. I think in your case the ringing will go away so don't do anything to add time to the healing process. As I am sure you know by reading this board, there is no one "cause" for tinnitus. However, your case is hopeful that is will clear up so stay positive. Let us know how you are doing.

Irrespective of any problems in the ear canal or eardrum, the tinnitus, vertigo and hearing loss indicate inner ear disorder. You may well have sprung a small inner ear leak (look up Perilymph Fistula). If it hasn't put itself right, I should go and see an ENT surgeon who recognises this condition. ilea
