Trumpet Tinnitus

(so sorry, I'm sure there would be a post similar to this somewhere in the 1172 threads! But here goes..)

I first noticed a buzzing in my ear about 5 years ago while playing the trumpet. My right ear buzzes when I play certain notes. The buzzing will be high or low, depending on the pitch of the note I am playing!

Over the years it has gotten worse, and I quit playing a couple of years ago because it's just irritating.

I tried playing saxophone and it buzzes with that as well, and it never used to. I was also singing loudly with a friend the other day and I had to stop because of the terrible distortion!! It also happens if I laugh or talk loud, sometimes.

Does anyone else get this type of tinnitus? What can I do about it? Besides stop singing - I'd never put my friends and family through that torture Emoticon: Winking smile

I also have a reallyyy mild hearing loss in the high frequencies in the same ear. And I get pulsating (?) tinnitus too, all in the right ear.

I'm worried the distortion will continue to worsen until talking at a normal volume will sound distorted, or even the air!

Sorry I should also mention that my ENT said it doesn't sound like anything to be worried about, and to try to block it out (ok great! lol, may as well ask Sherlock while I'm at it)
