back to topText on the RNID website is controlled by something called a stylesheet. On most computers, this means that the text will be similar in size to 12 or 14 point characters in print, although some combinations of computer and browser may display the text differently.
If you find the text too small or too large you can change it through your website browser: you do not need any special software or JavaScript turned on. On a PC you can also resize text by holding down the Ctrl key and using the scroll wheel on your mouse, if you have one.
For more information on changing the text size of our website see our browsers FAQs.
back to topThe fonts and colours on our website were chosen to make it as easy as possible for most people to use. However, if you find that the fonts and colours are not easy to read, or simply want to use something different, you can override our default settings.
For more information on changing website font and colour settings see our browsers FAQs.
back to topYou can alter the colours of the text and background of our website at any time by making simple changes in your browser settings. This may make it easier to read.
For more information on changing text and background colours see our browsers FAQs.
back to topYou can stop images from downloading off any website by "turning off" images in your browser's settings. A benefit of this is that it will let pages download quicker.
For more information on stopping images from downloading see our browsers FAQs.
back to topCookies are small text files that are placed on your computer by a website so that certain details about you or your computer can be remembered when you next visit that site. Although cookies can perform useful functions and save you time when visiting some websites (such as saving you having to re-enter your name and address), you can stop them being put on your computer if you prefer.
You can read more information about cookies, and find out how to stop cookies being put on your computer, in our browsers FAQs.
back to topYou can adjust the settings on your computer to make the pointer/cursor appear larger. You can also turn on "mouse trails" which leaves a shadow effect behind the pointer.
This is done in the computer's main settings; not in the browser settings.
back to topYour options will depend on the make and model of your mouse.
In Windows 2000 (or similar) you should be able to find the necessary settings by going to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Mouse.
back to topIf your mouse supports "mouse trails" and you use Windows 2000 (or similar) you should be able to find the necessary settings by going Start > Settings > Control Panel > Mouse.
