back to topYour screen's resolution is the number of pixels shown on the screen, and is usually described by stating the number of pixels acress the width and then the number down (the height). The higher the numbers, the more pixels will display on the screen. However, as more information is shown the images and text will be smaller, so if you prefer to see larger text and images you may wish to use a lower resolution. Our website has been designed to work with a screen resolution of 800 pixels wide by 600 pixels high, or larger.
If you want to check or change your screen's resolution on a PC running Windows 95 or above follow these menu commands: Start > Settings > Control Panel > Display > Settings. Then change the "Screen area" by using the sliding bar.
If you want to check or change the settings on a Mac (Apple Macintosh) running OS X follow these menu commands: Apple menu > System preferences > Displays panel > "Displays" tab. Then select from the list of supported screen resolutions.
If you want to check or change the settings on a Mac running OS 9 or below follow these menu commands: Apple menu > Control Panel > Monitor and Sound icon.
back to topText on our website is controlled by something called a stylesheet. On most computers, this means that the text will be similar in size to 12 or 14 point characters, although some browsers may display the text differently.
If you find the text too small you can change it by changing the settings of your website browser: you do not need any special software or JavaScript turned on. For more information read our browser FAQs. On a PC running Windows you can also resize text by holding down the Ctrl key and using the scroll wheel on your mouse, if you have one.
back to topOur website has been designed to work on specific versions of popular browsers. If you have a Mac it is best viewed on Internet Explorer version 5 and above or Lynx 2.8.4.
If you need to update your browser you can download the latest versions free of charge. For more information on downloading the latest version of your browser, see our browser FAQs.
