PDF stands for portable document format. This is a file format that keeps fonts, images and layout consistent with the original design of the document, regardless of which application or platform (PC or Mac) was used to create it.
By using PDF files we can be sure that a document looks exactly the same to you, and everyone else that uses our website, as it does on our computers.

You can download Adobe Reader (external link, opens new browser window) from Adobe's website, or you may find it on the cover-mounted CD ROM or DVD ROM of a computer magazine.

back to topYes. Some computer magazines have Adobe Reader on an accompanying CD ROM. You can install the Reader directly from the CD ROM but make sure you check the licence agreement before installing any software.
You can usually find instructions on installing Adobe Reader from a CD ROM in the magazine or on the disk itself.
