  • What systems is the Start to Sign! compatible with?

RNID has made every attempt possible to make Start to sign! available to as many people as possible. However, as internet technology is constantly changing we cannot guarantee compatibility. Due to the nature of the video format, Start to sign! works better on PCs and Apple Macs running Internet Explorer.

  • Why can't I see the menu or navigation bar?

Start to sign! is designed to run on a minimum screen resolution of 800 by 600 pixels. This refers to the number of pixels across the screen followed by the number displayed vertically. If you can't see the menu or navigation bar then your screen resolution is probably set at 640 by 480 pixels, which is too narrow to fit everything on the screen.

You can find out how to change your screen resolution in our "Start to Sign screen resolution troubleshooting guide (opens new browser window)", which you can download from this website or get from our Information Line.

  • Why do the video clips not play properly?

The Start to sign videos are all in Windows Media Video format (WMV) this means they play best in Windows Media Player within Internet Explorer. Although some other software will also play this format, for example Real Media Player within firefox (at the time this answer was written).

If you are having problems playing the videos install the latest Windows Media Player (visit the Microsoft website) and try again using Internet Explorer.
