RNID: For deaf and hard of hearing people.

Whitmore Way is a national service offering supported living for eight deaf adults aged 18 to 65 who need additional support to reach a level of independence. Our service is for Essex residents and focuses on providing life skills leading to integration into the local community and rehabilitation.

Support

We offer support based on the needs of each individual. This includes:

  • 24 hour year round staff cover, with one-to-one or two-to-one support for each person
  • highly trained staff  with specialist skills in learning disabilities and physical intervention
  • total communication environment
  • comprehensive individual support plans
  • regular review meetings
  • key workers for each service user.

Accommodation

This purpose-built complex has eight self-contained luxury flats and is fully wheelchair accessible. There is also a communal lounge, kitchen and large garden. It is close to local shops, a post office and pubs, with a bus service offering access to the large shopping centre in Basildon.
