You never know when you will come into contact with a customer or staff member who is deaf or hard of hearing. So we recommend that all of your staff are deaf aware, whether they deal with customers or not. We can help by providing training courses on deaf and disability awareness, the use of textphones and an introduction to sign language.

About our courses

All of our awareness training courses are:

  • available nationally
  • can be held as either a full or half-day session
  • limited to 16 people per session
  • held at your premises, although we can help with alternative venues.

Our courses are run by professionals in the field of deaf and disability awareness training. They have completed our "Train the Trainer" programme and the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development's Certified Trainer programme and are deaf themselves.

Current courses

We run the following awareness courses:

  • deaf and disability awareness training to raise awareness of what is meant by disability and give an appreciation of the issues involved
  • textphone training: an introduction to the use of textphones, including minicom systems
  • Start to Sign: an introduction to signing and understanding British Sign Language.
  • Training Access Point (TAP) events: our TAP events are located regionally, throughout the country. These highly popular, half and full day courses, provide a cost effective introduction to both Deaf Awareness and British Sign Language (BSL).
