RNID: For deaf and hard of hearing people.

Organisations have different reasons for asking RNID to provide training for their staff, these include providing support for new and existing members of staff to improving accessibilty to their services for deaf and hard of hearing people. These case studies show the different ways our training has been used to solve accessibility issues and the impact it had.

BBC EastEnders production support deaf employee by providing Deaf Awareness Training

The BBC team responsible for their flagship programme EastEnders have proven themselves to be both diverse and accessible. The production employed Samantha two years ago, although initial awareness training was provided when she started, staff changes meant that communication barriers arose when communicating with new colleagues. Samantha and her manager agreed to ask RNID's Training Services to help break down the communication barriers by providing a refresher course in Deaf Awareness Training to Samantha's colleagues. ASDA supports deaf colleague with Deaf Awareness and Start to Sign Training

Leading grocery multiple ASDA has recently supported a deaf colleague, Ian by providing hearing colleagues with Deaf Awareness and Start to Sign training. The training has transformed Ian's daily work life and changed colleague's attitudes to deaf and hard of hearing people. Working closely with ASDA's Management Team, RNID's training was able meet the objectives of the organisation and the needs of Ian.

RNID Trainer wows North Wales Police Officer

To overcome communication barriers with deaf people in the local community, a group of 10 Police Officers and Police Community Support Officers (PCSO) from North Wales Police Western Division undertook RNID's Start to Sign training to learn basic sign language skills.  As a result of the training, the officers are now able to tell deaf people their name, rank and provide basic reassurance in sign language when attending incidents or while out on patrol.
