RNID: For deaf and hard of hearing people.

Our Start to Sign TAPS event is a perfect, introductory course to using BSL (British Sign Language).

The course aims to improve communication between deaf and hearing staff; and with deaf/hard of hearing customers.

By the end of the course attendees will be able to:

  • understand the structure of BSL
  • use basic, everyday signs
  • hold a basic dialogue in BSL, without relying on writing or an interpreter
  • be able to produce and understand the BSL alphabet.

Each delegate receives an RNID information pack that includes factsheets and fingerspelling cards.  After training has been completed, a certificate of attendance will be issued by RNID.

I feel more confident communicating with people who are deaf and hard of hearing.

About our Trainers

All our training is delivered by deaf trainers who are experienced BSL users who provide personal examples of the issues deaf and hard of hearing people can encounter accessing organisations, and offer solutions that are both simple and effective.

Delivery of the training has a tremendous impact on delegates and they find the experience both enjoyable and fulfilling.

Each delegate receives an RNID information pack that includes factsheets and fingerspelling cards. After training has been completed, a certificate of attendance will be issued by RNID.
