Is this programme for me?
This programme is for you if you:
- have achieved Signature Level 2 in BSL or equivalent
- have worked or are currently working within the deaf community
- have attended a Pre-level 3 language development course, or already have Level 3 signing skills
- wish to use BSL at an advanced level within work situations
- are considering becoming a BSL/English interpreter, BSL tutor at an advanced level or a BSL NVQ assessor.
What does the programme include?
During the programme you will build a portfolio of evidence of your Level 3 BSL skills. This is then used to show that you meet Signature Level 3 standards.
We will provide all the equipment and support you need to build your portfolio. You will be assigned a deaf BSL assessor, who will support you through one-to-one assessment, tutorials and supervision.
How is the programme structured?

| Portfolio building day: one day | This day will include information on how to build a portfolio of written and video evidence, description of the NVQ terminology, and how to meet the criteria outlined in the qualification standards. |
| Video evidence collection: two days | This is an opportunity to collect video evidence of your BSL skills for your portfolio. |
| Assessment and guidance meeting: two days | You'll discuss progress of your portfolio with your assessor and produce a plan to complete your portfolio. |
| Set task day: one day | You will film your set task with your assessor as agreed with the assessment centre. |
| Final assessment and guidance meetings: one day | Your assessor will give you one-to-one support and advice on completing your portfolio. |
The final stages of the process are:
- You submit your portfolio to us.
- An Internal Verifier (IV) assesses your portfolio.
- An External Verifier (EV) from the awarding body, Signature, will sample portfolios to ensure that you have met the standards described in the award.
What are the dates of the programme?
The course runs for 7 days, over 7 months.

You are expected to attend all of the dates and show commitment and dedication to the programme, your assessor and the production of your own portfolio.
How do I book on this programme?

If you are interested and available to attend on the day of your choice, we will need a deposit of £35 from you to secure your place. If you are successful in securing a place on a Level 3 programme, this will be deducted from the total cost of the programme. If you are not successful, this fee will be used to provide you with detailed feedback on areas for your personal development.

Where will the programme be held?
The programme in London will be held at our head office, 19-23 Featherstone Street, London EC1Y 8SL. The programme in Bath will normally be held at our Poolemead office, RNID Poolemead House, Watery Lane, Bath BA2 1RN. If there is sufficient demand we will hold additional programmes elsewhere across the UK. Please register your interest and we will be in touch in due course to confirm if an alternative delivery site is an option for you.
How much will it cost?
The cost of the programme is £1,400.
This includes the cost of assessment registration with Signature and internal and external Signature verification of your portfolio.
