RNID: For deaf and hard of hearing people.

Before you can book your place on one of our courses, you need to attend an information and selection session.

This is so we can assess your skills and make sure you are ready to start your course.

For our BSL courses, we will be looking at your receptive, productive and conversational skills through a range of interactive exercises.

For our interpreting courses we will be looking at your BSL and English interpreting skills through a range of interactive exercises.

The session also gives you an opportunity:

  • to meet the trainers
  • get more detailed information on the course and assessment process
  • find out what will be expected of you
  • find out what you can expect from our tutors
  • ask any questions.

If the tutors or assessors feel you are ready, they will offer you a place on the course. If they feel that you are not quite ready, you will get constructive, individual written feedback on the areas you could improve on.

The information and selection sessions are free to attend, and you will only need to come to one per programme. Places are limited so you will need to book your place.

  • Level 3 NVQ in BSL
  • Level 4 BSL Language Coaching course
  • Level 4 NVQ in BSL
  • Individual Interpreter Development Programme
