RNID: For deaf and hard of hearing people.

As well as assessing service users' needs and giving them support and advice, we help local authority and community groups understand technology advances.

Current projects

Redbridge

In the London Borough of Redbridge we provide a range of complementary services to deaf, hard of hearing, blind, partially sighted and deafblind people. As well as providing a drop-in centre, the team has developed deaf clubs and links to local voluntary organisations.

Isle of Wight

On the Isle of Wight we set up a project over 11 years ago offering support, assessment and education to the community. The project is sometimes known locally as RNID Sound Advice.

Buckinghamshire

Working in association with the county council’s social workers in Buckinghamshire, we are delivering an equipment assessment, loan and support service from the Brookside Resource Centre in Aylesbury. New projects include a service for deafblind clients managed by RNID.

Milton Keynes

Based in the Milton Keynes City Council offices, our team works alongside the social services team and other sensory service partners including the RNIB. This successful project is now in its third year.

Rotherham

We work with Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council to provide information and advice on all aspects of deafness, but with special emphasis on equipment for deaf and hard of hearing people. We work in partnership with all statutory and relevant voluntary agencies. The service is complemented by an outreach service aimed at reducing the social exclusion of deaf and hard of hearing people in the Rotherham area. It focuses on people who have recently been assessed as needing a hearing aid.

Peterborough

In Peterborough we have developed a service targeted at people with mobility and access difficulties, and those who require assistance with their hearing aid technology.
