RNID: For deaf and hard of hearing people.

Our project on the Isle of Wight is well established and has been running since 1991. It is funded by us and the Isle of Wight Social Services department, with whom we work closely.

Services

At the Newport project our services include:

  • assessment and provision of assistive equipment
  • advice and demonstration to people who wish to buy equipment
  • maintenance of hearing aids, such as cleaning, retubing and battery replacement
  • loan of equipment such as loops for public meetings
  • supporting new hearing aid users.

Once people have been professionally identified and assessed, they are then supported and befriended by trained and experienced volunteers. You can find details of our volunteer programme and a success story in the volunteer section of this website.
