The London Borough of Redbridge Social Services’ department funds our project in Redbridge. Here we provide services to deaf, hard of hearing, blind, partially sighted and deafblind people in partnership with other organisations.
We have subcontracted the provision of mobility training and independent living skills training for people with visual impairment to RNIB, and services for deafblind people to Deafblind UK.
Services
Our services in Redbridge include:
- assessment and issue of equipment to deaf, deafened and hard of hearing people
- assessment of needs of blind, partially sighted and deafblind people
- information, advice and training about sensory loss
- support of individuals
- hearing aid maintenance, such as battery exchange, tubing and cleaning
- a weekly drop-in session with a community British Sign Language interpreter
- a community base for clubs
- display and demonstration of equipment for people with sensory loss.
We also have an employment, training and skills service advisor at our office.
