RNID: For deaf and hard of hearing people.

A man recieving hearing aid support

We provide support to new hearing aid users through a growing number of projects across the UK, using trained staff and volunteers. If you have recently had a hearing aid fitted, we can help you with:

  • making the most of your aid
  • maintenance and use
  • tubing and minor repairs
  • batteries
  • ear moulds.

Getting used to your aid

It takes time to adapt to using a hearing aid. Hearing aids are very helpful, but they cannot restore your hearing back to normal.

To make the most of your hearing aid you may benefit from training in coping strategies and communications tactics. We can also offer advice on maintenance and help you learn how to sort out simple problems.

Our services

We have set up projects around the country to help hearing aid users. We can provide:

  • hearing aid advice
  • information services
  • rehabilitation courses
  • equipment assessment and specialist products.

Costs

The services we provide are all free, but we rely on funding from local authorities or fundraising to help us cover the cost of the staff and our volunteers' expenses. All of our staff and volunteers are trained.
