we will make sure that how we use the data has a positive impact on the quality of life of deaf and hard of hearing people
In Spring 2002 over 10,000 deaf and hard of hearing people completed an RNID survey about everyday life. We have used the results in many ways, including product research and development.
A survey was sent to all RNID members in Spring of 2002. It was designed to enable us to learn more about the everyday difficulties and challenges faced by deaf and hard of hearing people. There was a massive response to the survey: 10,376 people completed and returned it.

We have now analysed the data extensively, and you can find out some of what we have learned. If you click on a topic name above you can look at the list of questions and see the breakdown of the responses we received.
There are many ways in which we can use the information gathered in this survey. It has already been used to guide product development and research project work. And as it provides recent data about day to day living with a hearing loss, and on areas of life where problems are most commonly faced, we have given it to the Campaigns team to help them in their work.
We will continue to use this data, and will make sure that how we use it has a positive impact on the quality of life of deaf and hard of hearing people.
Thank you to all those of you who completed this survey. We hope that you find the results displayed here interesting.
