We support a variety of biomedical research which increases our understanding of why hearing loss or tinnitus occurs, helps efforts to prevent hearing loss and tinnitus, improves devices such as hearing aids and will ultimately lead to a cure for deafness. Our current and previous projects are a good guideline to show the type of research we are likely to support.

The types of funding we offer

How to apply for funding

To apply to one of our funding schemes, download the relevant application pack and guidelines from the grants dedicated webpage and submit these as instructed by the given deadline. The details for each new grant round are provided on the web pages of each grant several months before the application deadline.

If applying outside of the specific areas of the call, you should initially email us with a brief summary of your project. We will then consider whether or not it is a suitable project topic for a full application. We currently do not support social science projects.

Our selection procedure

All applications are submitted to an appropriate level of peer-review and decisions are made based on scientific merit, feasibility and relevance to RNID's Biomedical Research Strategy - PDF 126KB (opens new browser window).
