We fund research into hearing loss and tinnitus to speed up the discovery and development of new drugs and treatments that will benefit people who are deaf, hard of hearing or have tinnitus. If you are working in this area, we could fund your project.
We support a variety of biomedical research which increases our understanding of why hearing loss or tinnitus occurs, helps efforts to prevent hearing loss and tinnitus, improves devices such as hearing aids and will ultimately lead to a cure for deafness. You can read about our current and previous projects as examples of the work we support. To find out whether we are likely to support your project, refer to RNID's Biomedical Research Strategy - PDF 126KB or contact us.
We offer four types of funding. The latest application details and deadlines for each grant scheme are published on its dedicated page. Please follow the links below for more information on each scheme.
To apply to one of our funding schemes, download the relevant application pack and guidelines from the grants dedicated webpage and submit these as instructed by the given deadline. The details for each new grant round are provided on the web pages of each grant several months before the application deadline.
If applying outside of the specific areas of the call, you should initially email us with a brief summary of your project. We will then consider whether or not it is a suitable project topic for a full application. We currently do not support social science projects.
All applications are submitted to an appropriate level of peer-review and decisions are made based on scientific merit, feasibility and relevance to RNID's Biomedical Research Strategy - PDF 126KB (opens new browser window). Everyone involved in the review process of any grant application is asked to abide by our code of conduct - PDF 26KB (opens new browser window). Further details of the procedures for the different grants are given on the page for each grant.
