RNID: For deaf and hard of hearing people.

RNID special feature in Nature Reviews Drug Discovery
Ad pic one page

RNID was lucky enough to work with Nature to produce a special feature in the May issue of Nature Reviews Drug Discovery.

The special highlighted how, despite being the third most common chronic condition after arthritis, hearing loss remains the ‘forgotten condition’, largely managed rather than treated. Hearing loss can be devastating and is concomitant with conditions such as diabetes, stroke and elevated blood pressure.

The feature reviewed the recent progress made in the field of hearing loss/tinnitus on the path to developing novel therapeutics. The clear unmet clinical need, and vast untapped market, offers the commercial sector a highly attractive new avenue in therapeutics. The biomedical team at RNID offers assistance to companies entering, or in the field via extensive contacts with experts academics, ENTs, patient groups, investors and hearing loss/tinnitus companies.

The feature also contained synopses from 5 leading companies in the field: MED EL, Sound Pharmaceuticals, Auris Medical, Otonomy, and Merz Pharmaceuticals.
