Hearing aids and audiology in Northern Ireland
Digital hearing aids are now available across Northern Ireland on the NHS.
Since October 2003 £500,000 has been invested in equipment and staff, with £1 million annual funding secured for the purchase and provision of digital hearing aids.
However, the audiology service in Northern Ireland is not fully modernised as elsewhere in the UK. RNID is working in partnership with DHSSPS, local audiologists and service planners to ensure modernisation is completed.
