RNID: For deaf and hard of hearing people.

Access to entertainment

Entertainment and the arts are a central part of life but it is often impossible for deaf and hard of hearing people to enjoy them. We are campaigning to increase access for deaf people to cinema, television and live performance venues.

Access to public services

We are campaigning for better access to the National Health Service (NHS) for deaf and hard of hearing people.

Compensation for deafened veterans

Because of your help with our veterans campaign, thousands of deafened veterans will get priority treatment. They won’t have to wait months, or even years for a digital hearing aid like they used to.

Communication rights

We're campaigning to improve access to communication support including BSL interpreters and lipreading classes.

Early years and education

A teacher of the deaf once said that RNID's vision is "an educational approach that stretches, encourages and rejoices with the developing child and the realisation of mind power". Here is how we are striving to achieve that vision.

Employment

We are working with employers, unions and Government to make sure deaf and hard of hearing people are not prevented from enjoying full, rewarding careers.

Hearing aids and audiology

Digital hearing aids are now available on the NHS, but waiting times to have one fitted are still too long. Many people have to wait for up to two years.
