Day 1

Leave the UK: you will meet the rest of the group at the airport and fly overnight from London Heathrow to Beijing.

Day 2

We arrive in Beijing in the morning and have a free day to get used to the area and weather. After dinner in the evening we'll hear more about the week ahead.

Day 3

Three people trekking along the Great Wall of China.

3-4 hours

Great Wall at Mutianyu: we'll trek for around three to four hours setting off from the Trout Valley where we catch our first views of the Great Wall of China at close range. We then reach the Great Wall taking in the fantastic views as we climb. In the afternoon we reach the tourist centre of Mutianyu where you'll have a chance to explore.

Day 4

6-7 hours

Black Dragon Paw Park: the morning begins with a gentle hike along the beautiful shallow valley with stream crossings, small waterfalls and small Chinese settlements. We then head deep into Black Dragon Paw Park, where there are views over the countryside. Then it's a gentle trek down to our hotel.

Day 5

5-6 hours

Great Wall at Gubeikou: we move to the village of Gubeikou, where the Great Wall sits precariously along the Yanshan Mountains and is architecturally one of the most striking sections of the wall. We then trek eastbound along the wall to Jinshanling, along the route we pass many magnificent watchtowers. After lunch we'll continue our trek to the village of Shalingzi.

Day 6

6-7 hours

Great Wall at Jinshanling: today we set off towards the Great Wall at Jinshanling which dates back to the Ming Dynasty. We take in some unusual features such as "obstacle walls". We'll enjoy some fantastic views and scenery when we reach the highest point on the trek, 700 metres above sea level. After crossing a suspension bridge at Simatai we head back to our hotel.

Day 7

4 hours

Great Wall at Simatai: we start today's trek where we left off yesterday to complete the final stage of the challenge. The Great Wall at Simatai also dates back to the Ming dynasty. After lunch we trek down through the villages and celebrate the end of the trek and a great achievement.

Day 8 

Beijing: you have free time to explore Beijing today, you could visit the Forbidden City or Tiananmen Square.

Day 9

We leave Beijing in the evening for an overnight flight back to London.
