The latest One in Seven includes an interview with writer Rebecca Atkinson, a review on the latest mobile phones and the life story of Dr Fiona Stoney.

Rebecca Atkinson is an author and freelance writer for The Guardian newspaper. Born moderately deaf, Rebecca found it hard to accept her deafness until she began to lose her eyesight through a rare genetic condition. She talks to us about her hearing loss and going blind, and her career as a writer.
Dr Fiona Stoney was told as a child that she was unlikely to succeed at GCSEs due to her hearing loss. She tells us how wanting to prove people wrong got her through medical university to become a qualified doctor.

Most of us use mobile phones to keep in touch while on the move but until recently we could only send short text messages. We take a look at four mobile phones that allow you to email and use our textphone service, TalkbyText.
