It will be an exciting year, and we'll need your help to make the most out of the partnership, and to ensure we have a lasting impact. See our One in Seven article (PDF 591KB) (opens new browser window) for more information.

Volunteering opportunities will include:

Hear to Help volunteers

With the help of The Co-operative, Hear to Help will become a national service, increasing the number of volunteering vacancies we can offer. Hear to Help is a project that trains volunteers to provide support to people in the local community who have age-related hearing loss by:

  • showing people how to care for their hearing aids
  • showing people how to use their hearing aids correctly
  • making people feel more confident to get involved in their local community and access services more easily.

During 2009 RNID will launch a new national campaign calling on government to ensure that everyone over 55 is asked to have their hearing tested on the NHS. We will also be testing the hearing of one million people, so that any hearing loss can be tackled as early as possible.

If you would like to help us carry out a million hearing tests, you can be part of our plan to carry out checks in the community. Training and support will be provided.

More exciting opportunities

There are also many other ways you can provide invaluable help. You can volunteer to:

  • collect money at Co-operative stores
  • visit Co-operative teams to talk about the work of RNID in the community
  • help out at fundraising events across the UK
