RNID: For deaf and hard of hearing people.

Our values

It is very important to us that everybody at RNID, staff and volunteers, demonstrate that they can work to our shared values.

In October 2008 we launched the six values that shape and define our working environment and culture. They guide us now and in the future and are shared by us all.

The six values are:

  • Champions the cause – remembers at all times that RNID strives to create a world where deafness or hearing loss do not limit or determine opportunity and where people value their hearing.
  • Builds trust – creates an environment of trust through communicating in an open and honest way.
  • Inspires leadership – leads by example and encourages leadership in others.
  • Promotes teamwork – contributes towards collaboration and teamwork across RNID.
  • Champions the brand – makes the most of opportunities to gain positive exposure for RNID.
  • Delivers results – supports the delivery of services that meet or surpass the expectations of internal and external customers.

At RNID, everything that we do is influenced by our values and behaviours. You will find specific details of how these relate to your voluntary work within your volunteer handbook. You will receive further guidance from your Volunteer Manager regarding how these values and behaviours relate to your voluntary role with RNID.

It is vital to us that volunteers contribute by applying them to their work, with each other, and to the individuals and communities that we serve. By doing this, we are able to work together making that vital difference.

Valuing Diversity

Our values and behaviours  give standards of conduct, which underpin our commitment to equality and diversity in the work that we do and our workplace culture. We are seriously committed to providing equality of opportunity. We welcome difference in our staff and our volunteers and value and respect diversity in all aspects of our work and service delivery.
