RNID: For deaf and hard of hearing people.

CSWs help with communication between a deaf student, hearing people, a tutor and other students. The support they offer depends on the individual’s needs.

What does a CSW do?

community support worker and client

CSWs, sometimes called personal communication assistants, use clear communication and may take notes, interpret, lipspeak or communicate in British Sign Language or Sign Supported English, depending on their skills. Their rate of pay varies a lot and depends on what support they offer.

CSWs are not registered interpreters and their services are not offered by RNID Communication Services.
