RNID: For deaf and hard of hearing people.

A teacher and young deaf child

Information for teachers and educational professionals

We campaign and lobby for change in the education of deaf pupils. We aim to radically improve the quality of education for deaf children from the time of newborn hearing screening through to further and higher education. Integral to this is the need for deaf children, students and their families to have a choice of educational options to suit their individual needs.

Pre-school

Teachers and other education professionals working with pre-school children can read about the Early Support and newborn hearing screening programmes, and then find out about our great Deafness at Birth training and information resource.

School

Deaf pupils are increasingly educated in mainstream schools. Find out more here, and about the RNID resources that can help you.

14 to 19

There are plenty of resources for teachers and other professionals who work with students aged 14 to 19. Find out what we have to help you, and what is available from other organisations.

Colleges and universities

As part of the Headstart project, RNID has created this section of our website to support university staff working with deaf and hard of hearing students. Our partners in this project are the University of Central Lancashire, Sheffield Hallam and Sheffield University.
