RNID: For deaf and hard of hearing people.

Some students have times when they feel upset, worried or depressed. The counselling service is confidential and will support you.

What sort of things do people see a counsellor about?

  • arriving at university/homesickness
  • work/study worries
  • conflicts with housemates/loneliness
  • confidence and self-esteem
  • depression
  • stress/anxiety
  • relationships/sexuality
  • pregnancy/abortion/miscarriage
  • addictions (alcohol, drugs)
  • eating problems.

Tell the counselling service about your communication needs. When you book an appointment to see a counsellor, ask them to arrange the communication support you prefer, for example an interpreter, lipspeaker, notetaker or loop system.
