RNID: For deaf and hard of hearing people.
Information and resources
Your CV - top tips
- CVs are always typed.
- Don't use a fancy font.
- You do not have to explain that you are deaf on your CV.
- Make your CV fit onto one page if you can and never more than two pages.
- Don't start with the words Curriculum Vitae. Start with your name and put it in bold type. It is your name you want them to remember.
- Don't bother with gimmicks such as borders or fancy boxes. You don't have room and it can look very messy.
- A good CV is more than a list - it tells people what you are like and should reflect your personality.
- A CV must be positive. If the information is not positive, do not put it in.
- Try and begin it with a one paragraph profile of yourself and the skills you can offer an employer, as a way of selling yourself.
