Captioned and audio-described cinema enable people who are deaf or hard of hearing, or those with low vision, to enjoy a film in its original format, on the big screen in the cinema.

Already, over 200 cinemas have the equipment to show subtitled and audio described films. Each month there are 1,000 screenings of subtitled films around the UK.
To find out which cinemas have digital subtitling equipment installed visit, www.yourlocalcinema.com (external link, opens new browser window)
We are a member of the Cinema Access Disability Working Group, a group set up by the Cinema Exhibitors' Association to find ways to improve access to cinemas and films, for people with physical and sensory impairments. As part of this group we have helped to develop a cinema advert to increase awareness of subtitled films (external link, opens new browser window).
Many cinemas now provide induction loops and infrared systems in most of the screens and Odeon cinemas have a policy of 100% provision of induction loops or infrared systems in every screen at every cinema. If your local cinema does not contain a loop or it does not work properly, do contact the cinema manager.
For comprehensive listings of all this week's latest subtitled and audio described film releases see Your local cinema (external link, opens new browser window). A good tip is to always check with the cinema before you travel as times and dates do change.
