RNID: For deaf and hard of hearing people.

  • RNID's leaflet information service

Our service provides you with 12 leaflets giving clear and useful information for deaf and hard of hearing people, their family and friends.

Our leaflets help to answer their questions about a wide range of topics including

Our leaflets are written in clear English and an easy-to-follow style. The leaflets will vary slightly throughout the year as we update information and sometimes introduce new ones. We often include cards with communication tips and the fingerspelling alphabet. Occasionally, we will supply leaflets from other relevant organisations.

What do you get from the service?

    • A leaflet display rack. We supply and maintain the rack. You just have to find the wall space for it. The rack measures 68cm wide by 76cm long by 11cm deep and must be mounted on a solid wall.
    • A supply of leaflets every three months. We arrange for the racks to be refilled every three months. You will receive 20 copies of 12 different leaflets. Our refill times are January, April, July and October.
    • Extra leaflets. If you run out of leaflets between our visits, you can ask for extras, at no extra cost. We will send you an order form for this, which you can fax back to us indicating how many of each leaflet you need. Alternatively, contact the Information Line (details are on the back page of leaflets).
    • Free RNID membership. As a member of the service, you also become a member of RNID. You will receive a free subscription to One in Seven magazine (opens new browser window) (worth £22). One in Seven is full of useful information about deafness and hearing loss and the work that RNID does.

    How to join the service

We make a small charge to cover our administrative costs (currently £300 + VAT per year).
