Wireless doorbells - June/July 2004

Ease of use is very important with products you use all the time, like wireless doorbells. Here we give you the comments of both our user panel and experts.

  • A wall mounted wireless doorbell receiver

    Bellman

A loud chime, but users found the flash didn’t attract their attention unless it was right in front of them. They also disliked its large size and weight. Richard commented: “It’s far too big to carry around with you." Everyone agreed it would be easy to knock over and Teresa thought it rather unstable. However, the volume control was very large, had excellent contrast and was very easy to use. The labelling was also good.

  • A black wall mounted wireless doorbell receiver

    Byron

Satisfactory chime volume and a very effective vibration alert. Everyone thought it was large. “It’s too big and cumbersome for me,” said Beryl, although she she liked it and said she would probably use one. Teresa disagreed. “I like the vibration, but I wish it was smaller.” Others preferred a flash to the vibration. The volume is easy to change, but labelling is poor.

  • A wall mounted wireless doorbell receiver with black and metallic finish

    Libra

Loud chime, but quite a weak strobe so you would have to be nearby to notice it. Very popular due to its portability and ability to run on either batteries or mains power. Beryl was impressed by “the flashes following the chimes” and all found it stable and very portable. James didn’t like the control: “it’s easy to overshoot the settings, tricky and fiddly to use” and its labelling isn’t clear.

  • A wall mounted wireless doorbell receiver

    Lifemax

Loud volume, long chimes and flashing light was satisfactory. Quite popular with our panel, although Beryl thought it “too bulky to carry around” and Richard commented: “it’s not very stable”. However, Teresa was very impressed by “the large range of chimes, especially the long chimes which are so much better than ding-dong”. The volume control was hard to change, but labelling was good.

  • A wall mounted wireless doorbell receiver with metallic finish

    Dessa

Satisfactory chime volume and bright strobe light. James liked “the convenience of mains power and it’s easy to plug in and disconnect”. Teresa was impressed with “the long and bright flashing”. Everyone liked its small size and shape. The control could be better labelled, but overall a portable and popular choice, despite needing a screwdriver to change its volume.

  • A wall mounted wireless doorbell receiver with blue finish

    Lindam

The chimes weren’t very loud and the flash was only satisfactory, but still quite a popular model despite this. Richard said: “It looks good and it’s easy to change the volume and chimes. I just wish the controls were a bit bigger.” James added: “The labelling is good.” Beryl said: “I thought the chimes were too short and the flashes too few.”
