What's in the RNID Library?

The RNID Library is the largest library in Europe that specialises in deafness and hearing loss. Anyone can use the library and books can be borrowed through the inter-library lending scheme.

Our library has a range of information, including:

  • journals, textbooks and research reports on deafness and audiology
  • books and magazines about sign language and the deaf community
  • biographies of deaf people and novels with deaf characters
  • children’s books on related topics.

Its other facilities include:

  • free reading lists
  • free access to MEDLINE and other databases
  • photocopying facilities
  • photocopies by post.

Opening hours

The RNID Library is open Monday to Friday, 10am to 5.30pm, except bank holidays.

Where is the library?

The library is owned by RNID and run by University College London (UCL). It is based at the Institute of Laryngology and Otology, a department of UCL located in the Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital.
