Many people with tinnitus find complementary therapies can help them manage their tinnitus.
While complementary therapies do not have a direct effect on tinnitus, they can help patients relax and improve their general health and well being, which may help them to cope better with their tinnitus.
Therapies such as acupuncture, homeopathy and hypnotherapy and herbal treatments such as ginkgo biloba have been shown to have very limited effect with tinnitus and success stories often tend to be anecdotal. However, some people have found them to be beneficial. If you do decide to try one or more complementary therapies, it is in your interest to do some research and make sure the person treating you is qualified and recognised by the relevant national body.
